Location: Lekki, Lagos Island, Lagos.

A Laboratory Head (or Director) oversees daily lab operations, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, CLIA), and, accurate, timely testing or research. Key responsibilities include managing staff, maintaining equipment/inventory, and implementing policies to maximize efficiency. The role requires strong leadership, technical proficiency, and, often, a bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field with 5+ years of experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Operational Management: Develop, implement, and maintain lab policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate lab technicians and scientists.

Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to safety regulations (e.g., biosafety, hazardous materials) and industry standards, including, managing, audit prep, and, proper, documentation.

Quality Control (QC): Oversee, quality, assurance, and quality, control procedures to ensure, accuracy, and reliability of, results.

Inventory & Equipment: Manage, inventory, levels, budget, ordering, and, maintenance/calibration of equipment.

Coordination: Coordinate, workflows and collaborate with research teams or other departments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field; Master’s/PhD often preferred for senior roles.

Experience: Significant, experience, (e.g., 5+ years) working in a laboratory setting, with managerial, experience.

Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of lab procedures, instrumentation, and, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and, organizational skills.

Certifications: Relevant licenses or certifications may be required depending on the industry (e.g., medical, pharmaceutical).
